China
Journey  To Jade 4
June 14th:  Well, after a restless night of coughing, we took Jade to the
doctor today.  She has an ear infection and a slight case of Bronchitis
because of a cold.  The doctor prescribed a medicine for her.  We waited
while the "pharmacist"  ground and mixed up her prescription.  It is quite
different here when it comes to health and medicine.  On another note -
Jade loves food and we think that watermelon is her favorite.  The
orphanage, however, said it was cake.  We will see.  We also had sushi
for dinner - Jade loved the sticky rice and steamed egg.  Cooking is
going to be quite different around the Dahlke home when we return!

June  15th  We went to the doctor for examination today and Jade
only weighs 15.5 pounds!  We thought she was small when we got
her in comparison to the other babies.  All of her 12 month clothes
are swimming on her - we had to buy more - imagine that!  We also
got some squeaky shoes.  Yes, Rob in ALL sizes!  Jade is doing
great!  She hasn't had fever for the past 3 days and the ancient
Chinese medication they gave her yesterday is working well.  Her
cough is almost gone and we are finally seeing the real Jade.  She is
very happy today and is laughing all the time.  She is saying
da-da-da and waving bye bye when we leave a place, or a car goes
by.  She ate a great breakfast and was able to sleep peacefully last
night.  She went to bed at 8:00pm and woke up this morning at 6:30
am with only one small feeding at 2:00am.  We think Jade is the
cutest baby here, but our entire group is beautiful.  We also visited a
Chinese temple where Jade was blessed by a Chinese Monk.  It was
a beautiful ceremony. Lastly, we visited a 5 floor pearl and bead
factory!  Rob, I hope we have a high limit on the credit card.  Jade
loves beads!  Boy did God get this one right.
These beautiful
bronze statues were
located outside of the
Chen Family's
Temple.
June 16:  Today was another
fantastic day!  All of our
paperwork was received at the
American Consulate and it
appears to be ready for our
exit interview tomorrow.  Jade
and the other babies in our
group took the famous "RED
Couch" photo at the hotel.
They all did a great job.  Jade
ate very well throughout the
day as you can see.
Everyone is looking forward to
going home.  Jade misses her
big brother and Daddy.   We
will leave for Shanghai
tomorrow following our
interview and will arrive in
Austin on Thursday evening.
We will post more photos once we return home.  We would like to say
thank you to each of you for following our journey.  Your support and
prayers have meant so much to us.  Thank you for your encouragement
and love.  Jade is looking forward to meeting everyone!
